Steel Structures of Florida, Inc., in association with NU-Era Homes, Inc. has constructed over 300 homes in Marion and Citrus county since 1993.

In 2001 and 2004, Nu-Era Homes constructed two all steel framed housing communities - Heron Woods in Inverness, FL and Magnolia Village in Lecanto, FL.

ADVANTAGES OF STEEL

Strength: Steel offers the highest strength to weight ratio of any residential framing material. This strength allows for less material while framing a stronger home. The strength of steel makes it the material of choice in areas subject to natural disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and earthquakes. Steel framed homes can be designed to withstand winds of 150 MPH.

Safety: Although the use of steel cannot prevent natural disasters, it can minimize the damage that they cause. In conventional interior or exterior wood framed structures, the framing material is the third most commonly ignited material. The non-combustible properties of steel will not start a fire in your home, or contribute fuel to a fire once it has started. Steel also offers a safer environment during lightning storms due to the fact that it provides a direct path to the ground.

Environment: Steel is a product that is 100% recyclable, making it an environmentally friendly material. The average 2,000 square foot home uses 50-60 old growth trees. The same home built with steel uses 6 scrapped cars. Steel is recognized by Healthy Home Institute as the framing material of choice due to the fact that it does not contain resin or other chemicals found in other framing materials. Also, steel does not out-gas as other materials do. Steel’s environmental benefits make it the building material that our kids can be proud of.
